A Snowy Post

We finally got snow! The big wet flakes which didn't look very promising as we were going to bed last night were joined by several showers of 'sticking stuff', so I pulled the curtains onto a world which had been changed overnight into a place  of winter magic.

It wasn't very much but enough to blanket the ground,  transform the ordinary and conceal the  ugly.
Of course, it being a work and school morning, there wasn't much time for photography but I managed a couple shots while waiting for my tardy teenager.

After dropping him to school, I just had time to take a few photographs of the beautiful old St Nicholas Parish Church, known locally as The Green Church due to its aged copper spire, before going to work.

By lunch time the snow was gone but at least I got my snow fix for this winter. Now I can wholeheartedly look forward to spring.

  1. Yes, it isn't winter without a good dusting of snow. Pretty photos.

    1. I would have loved to have been able to have spent an hour or two walking in the snow, taking pics, but unfortunately was stuck behind a desk.

  2. Hello Mairéad:
The snow, as in your most attractive images, defines everything so very clearly. We are sorry though to learn that it did not really last much beyond the day.

Here we have had a great deal this winter in the countryside but much less than normal in the City itself. The promise is of more but it never seems to arrive!

    1. Snow is quite rare in Ireland, especially where we live as it's close to the sea. It's probably just as well, as the country grinds to a halt after just a dusting!

  3. I love when you can wake to a transformed world! It's so funny how in places that don't get much snow, we tend to run out, camera in hand! I'm glad we don't have much here. When I was in Toronto at Christmas the snow was fun but I thought about dealing with it for another 3 months...no thanks! I'll take the rain anyday!

  4. I was like a kid in a candy store when we got a lot of snow two years ago but after a couple of weeks, was glad to see green grass again. Ideally all snow should fall at the weekend when no one has to go to work or school.

  5. Ha, Im laughing! I'm exactly the same - need at least one good lot of snow to have had the winter fix then onwards and upwards to spring! Really lovely photos of the church as well. Heather x
