It's Been A While....

It's been a while since I've written here.
We've had the promise of spring. Warm sunny days, lengthening evenings, spring flowers and new lambs.

And then winter returned. Cold wind howling around the house,  frost and snow on the hills and even  here close to the sea.
St Patrick's Day has come and gone. Crowds lined the streets for the annual parade. Faces glum from the cold or from Ireland's continuing misfortunes.
A celebration of culture and traditions, the old and the new, young and old.
Tomorrow is Daffodil Day, so if you live in Ireland, please support this worthy cause and help the fight against cancer.

  1. Hello Mairead...Happy belated St Patricks Day to you as well!...looks like your land has the same type of weather that we've had here...I so hope for a recovery from the long bleak winter for you and your countrymen, be it climate and both economical.

    1. Sadly no sign of either the weather or economy improving - winter storms have brought flooding and heavy snow to many parts of the country - fingers crossed we've escaped so far.

  2. Such fun photos - I imagine it's such a wonderful day there. Even here in Montana we have St. Patty's day parades and of course the bars serve green beer. There is a town near here (Butte, Montana) that had a huge Irish immigrant population in the early 1900s. I hear the celebrations there are crazy.

    1. Thanks Jenny, I sometimes think the Irish abroad have more fun than we do at home. The weather is still very cold this time of year - not great for street parties.

  4. We've escaped the worst so far although it is dreadfully co ld and miserable - this time last year we had a heatwave with temperatures in the 20s.

  5. Is this winter ever going to end? I fear we are actually in Narnia....
Was just commenting to someone last night about the weather this time last year. At our youngest's birthday party the children stripped to their underwear and had a water fight!

    Roll on Spring....

  7. You've really caught a great Paddy's Day shot with the lassies in green - an excellent photo Mairead! Poor lambs - I feel sorry for them. What a cold world to arrive into. I've succumbed to a ghastly cold and cough, so have a jaundiced view of things at the moment!
